Tener el Corazón en la Mano
About two weeks ago, the kids and I trekked to San Isidro with our back packs and, after waiting seven hours, caught the bus to the Pacific Coast. It was dark when the bus dropped us off at the gravel crossroads that leads to the Flutterby Hostel. We walked about twenty minutes with all our bags of groceries that we bought at la feria in San Isidro and held on our laps on the hot bus, plus two bags of "gear" each. We were greeted with cheers from the Flutterby Crew when we arrived - a nice greeting after a long journey! We settled into our cabin and then made a pasta dinner in the community kitchen.
Pam bought the land about three years ago (far left) and her sister, Kim (behind the bar) comes down every year to help her manage the place.
A view out our cabin window in the morning - ginger in bloom!

Pelicans welcomed us to the beach
The beach was crawling with these little snails
Someone must have created a fun game here
We had also walked into Uvita to go to the farmer's market one morning, then walked the whole beach - past the Whale Tail peninsula
On Sunday night, we got a ride to a place called The Roadhouse to see our friends, Julio and Michelle. A musician named Dennis was performing and Michelle played her viola with him during the second set. We enjoyed some fancy drinks and french fries with ketchup! American-style!
Just as the sun was setting, I captured this great picture of Dennis
I joined them at the end, playing the spoons, after sharing a couple of songs on my ukulele

We woke up at 4:30 AM on Monday morning to pack and hike to the 6 AM bus headed to San Isidro. Standing in the Flutterby kitchen, suddenly the ceiling fans were swinging, pots and pans swaying....a 5.8 earthquake to send us on our way!Waiting for the bus at dawn

We've been back at Finca Fruicion ever since, bustin' our butts to prepare for a festival here this weekend. More work to do than we can possibly manage in the next few days but we're all doing our best and investing full days of people-power.
